S3329: When Infants Don’t Thrive: The Urgency of Addressing Perinatal and Infant Disparities

Faculty will present an evidence-based rationale for pediatricians to engage in advocacy aimed at improving the health of all infants. Historical and ongoing barriers to optimal infant outcomes will be explored. Adaptations to pediatric practices that increase awareness for the social drivers of health perpetuating infant health disparities will be discussed. Attendees will also consider strategies for engaging in activities that mitigate factors continuing to drive disparities in U.S. infant mortality rates.
