The nonprofit Meg Foundation exists for one reason: to put the knowledge and power to better manage pain and medical anxiety where it belongs—with kids, families, and the people who care for them. When pain and medical anxiety aren't managed well—especially early on—it doesn’t just hurt in the moment. It sticks. It creates psychological and physical changes that impact how we process pain for the rest of our lives. It shapes how kids feel about their bodies, their care, and the trusted adults who are supposed to help. It leads to trauma, healthcare avoidance, and bigger problems down the line: chronic pain, anxiety, depression, substance use risk, and poor health outcomes. And the worst part? It makes kids lose trust in a system that is supposed to make them feel safe and help them feel better. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We can prevent suffering now, and preventing long term worse health outcomes. The Meg Foundation creates tools and resources that are evidence based, kid-tested, and vetted by the top experts in the world. Even more powerful: we put them all directly in the hands of kids, families and adults to empower them to take control of their own experience. We also train providers and team up with hospitals, clinics, and public health partners—in the U.S. and beyond. Because large scale impact is about meeting people where they are. And we make it all free, easy to use, and built for the real world—because change doesn’t have to be complicated to be powerful.
