FRAT®: A serum-based Folate Receptor Antibody Test measures the presence of autoantibodies that interact (either block or bind) with the activity of the Folate Receptor Alpha (FRa). Current evidence suggests that these autoantibodies may be responsible for reducing the transport of folate (an essential B-9 Vitamin) and its active metabolites (most notably 5-MTHF) across to the brain, placenta and ovaries, thereby contributing to various neurological deficiencies such as Autism, Cerebral Folate Deficiency, Neural Tube Defects, among other conditions
