Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is the most common gastrointestinal emergency in newborns. There is evidence that human milk decreases NEC and other comorbidities. When mothers’ milk is unavailable, pasteurized donor milk is the standard of care. This session will review AAP guidelines to promote an exclusive human milk diet to reduce disease.
